Growing up, our extended family all lived in Maryland and Virginia, and we would drive down from New Jersey for Thanksgiving every year.
My mom started making this cranberry-orange relish as it could be prepped in advance, was easy to transport, and brightened up the rich and hearty flavors of our traditional Thanksgiving meal!
1 bag cranberries
1 large orange plus the zest
1 cup sugar
Zest of half of a lemon (optional)
1. Wash and sort cranberries.
2. Zest the orange and section the orange without peel. (Optional: zest half of a lemon.)
3. Place the cranberries, orange, zest, and sugar in a mixer and pulse it until coarsely chopped and blended. Refrigerate, preferably overnight.
