Sour Cream Chocolate Chip Cake

Description

The holiday season is always a special time because it brings people together with food as the centerpiece.

As a multi-racial and multi-religious family, our holiday seasonal meals run the gamut of everything from a classic Christmas ham, to crispy Hanukkah latkes and apple sauce to black-eyed peas—which are a symbol of hope in African American culture—to the Filipino tradition of New Year’s good luck tradition eating 12 grapes, or other round fruit, at midnight on New Year’s day for good luck one in the coming year (one fruit for each month of the coming year).

With all that said, growing up the holiday and New Year’s season was also a period of celebrating many family birthdays. My mom would always make a family favorite Sour Cream Chocolate Chip Cake (recipe below) to celebrate at least one of their birthdays every year.

This cake always brings me back to my childhood.

From my family to yours, thank you for everything you do to support Sur La Table and our community every single day. We hope you have a happy, healthy and delicious holiday season!
