For chef Sarah Entwistle, her journey toward launching her own monthly supper club–aptly named, “Supper by Sarah”–was serendipitous.

“My love for cooking began when I was 12.

That year, my mom returned to work as a financial advisor at Morgan Stanley, and my siblings and I were looked after by a rotation of babysitters—none of whom could cook beyond the basics.

After one too many dinners of dino-shaped chicken nuggets and boxed mac and cheese, I decided it was time to take matters into my own hands.

One day, I pulled a cookbook off the shelf and landed on a recipe for seared filet mignon with a bourbon cream sauce.

I convinced my mom to take me to the grocery store—and even the liquor store—for all the ingredients. My family was understandably skeptical, but from the moment I started cooking (including flambéing the bourbon!), something just clicked.

I felt completely at ease in the kitchen.”

Her passion, however, wouldn’t become a career until 2017.

In the midst of a successful career in finance, Sarah decided to take a leap of faith and left her job at Goldman Sachs to enroll at New York’s Institute of Culinary Education. And the rest is history.

Well, mostly.

“Leaving a stable corporate career in finance to pursue cooking was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made—but ultimately, I knew I had to follow my passion if I wanted a truly fulfilling life.

After five years working in the financial industry, I realized I couldn’t keep ignoring that pull. I took a leap of faith, enrolled in the Culinary Arts program at ICE in NYC, and everything changed.

That leap led me to a culinary externship at Gramercy Tavern, recipe testing and development at Blue Apron, and private chef work in NYC and the Hamptons. Each step brought me closer to building a career that blends creativity, culture, and community—and eventually inspired me to create Supper by Sarah.”

“Supper by Sarah,” is a monthly supper club inspired by Sarah’s travels, with an emphasis on connection and community.

“The dishes I create are simple, vibrant, and full of global influence—designed to spark conversation, connection, and a sense of discovery with every bite.

Supper by Sarah was born from my love of travel and the belief that food is one of the most powerful ways to connect with people and cultures.

I’m passionate about exploring new places and fully immersing myself—eating like a local, shopping at neighborhood markets, learning traditional cooking methods and discovering the stories behind each dish.

These experiences not only deepen my understanding of global cuisines but they also inspire the menus I create. Each Supper Club is a way to bring those travels home—to translate what I’ve learned abroad into an intimate, shared experience around the table.”

Every month features a new menu, with dishes like harissa honey carrots with Zatar seasoned labneh inspired by Morocco; a Sunday roast with onion gravy from across the pond; and som tam summer rolls with peanut sauce that’ll make you feel like you’re dining at a Thai night market.

And with every meal and menu comes new memories and memorable moments–something, Sarah explains, is at the core of every dish, every recipe and every meal.

“Cooking for others is my love language—it’s how I connect, show care and create memorable experiences.

There’s something magical about bringing people together over a delicious, unfussy meal and watching conversations and laughter unfold.

Food has a unique ability to unite people, transcending boundaries and sparking connection.

Every meal shared is an opportunity to learn something new about those around me, and I treasure that.”

That made us wonder–if Sarah could share a meal with anyone, alive or dead, who would she invite to her table?

“First, I’d invite Audrey Hepburn—my favorite actress and a true icon of elegance and compassion. Beyond her film career, I’ve always been deeply inspired by her humanitarian work with UNICEF and the grace with which she carried herself in all aspects of life.

Next would be Anthony Bourdain, who profoundly shaped the way I think about food, travel, and culture. His memoir was a major influence during culinary school, and I’ve always admired how he told stories with honesty and heart. I could listen to him speak for hours.

I’d also love to have Reese Witherspoon at the table. I’m an avid reader and a fan of her book club, and I’d be so curious to talk with her about storytelling, entrepreneurship and the intersection of creativity and business.

Ina Garten would be a dream guest. I grew up watching Barefoot Contessa and cooking from her books. Her warmth, ease in the kitchen and timeless recipes were a huge part of my early food journey. I truly think we’d be fast friends.

Finally, I’d invite my Poppy. I wish he were here to see everything I’ve built—he was such a meaningful figure in my life, and getting to cook for him and share my story would be incredibly special.”
